New! McCaffery-Wagman Tennis and Wellness Center

Take a tour 

‌Student Affairs staff will be available to provide tours to the Skidmore community at noon Wednesday, Jan. 15; Thursday, Jan. 16; and Friday, Jan. 17. Space is limited; sign up online.

Official opening and spring semester hours 

‌The McCaffery-Wagman Tennis and Wellness Center will open on Tuesday, Jan. 21. Cardio and weight room hours will be Monday-Thursday, 7 a.m.-10 p.m.; Friday, 7 a.m.-8 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m.-7 p.m.; Sunday, noon-10 p.m. 

‌Open house offerings 

‌From noon to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 22, in the lobby of McCaffery-Wagman vendors from BARE Blends, 9 Miles East, and KEY Sparkling Water will be offering samples and items for sale. 

‌Intro to cardio room and weight room equipment 

‌Strength and conditioning staff will be providing introductions to using the new equipment in the cardio room and weight room throughout the first and second week of opening. Space is limited; sign up online

‌Free group fitness classes 

Try a group fitness class in the new Group Fitness Studio. Classes include yoga, pilates, and spin. Space is limited; sign-up online.

Announcements

IdeaLab presentation and tour 

‌Staff and faculty are invited to explore the intersection of creativity, innovation, and critical engagement in the practice of teaching and making in “Critical Making as Imaginative Thinking,” led by Schupf Family IdeaLab Director Chris Emdin, on Tuesday, Jan. 14. A presentation and tour of the IdeaLab will begin at 11 a.m., followed by a free boxed lunch and tinkering time from 12:30 to 2 p.m. RVSP by Friday, Jan. 10, to attend. 

‌Winter AI Academy 

‌Faculty and staff are invited to learn how to leverage AI to enhance and expedite professional responsibilities/tasks through a series of one-hour AI workshops by members of the Skidmore AI Team on Thursday, Jan. 16, in Emerson Auditorium. Classes will be offered at a variety of skill levels: “AI for Beginners” (9-10 a.m.), “AI for Dabblers” (10-11 a.m.), “Advanced AI” (11 a.m.-noon), “Pro Tips for the AI Curious” (noon-12:30 p.m.), and “Sandbox: Trouble Shooting with AI” (12:30-2:30 p.m.). Lunch is provided and free books on AI will be available. Space is limited: RSVP by Sunday, Jan. 12. 

‌Attend the annual ACF Sanctioned Culinary Competition 

‌Skidmore Dining Services will host its 11th annual ACF-sanctioned Culinary Competition from 6 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 10, in Murray-Aikins Dining Hall. Watch as 10 teams from institutions (including Skidmore College) compete in a “Chopped”-style competition. The event is free to observe and complimentary beverages and snacks will be available.

‌EMS system unavailable during update 

‌The EMS system will be unavailable for use today, Wednesday, Jan. 8, while IT performs maintenance. During this time, users will be unable to book rooms or order catering, setup, or media services. Please contact the Scheduling Office with questions. 

‌February kids’ camp 

‌The Skidmore women's lacrosse team will host a kids’ camp in Williamson Sports Center the week of Feb. 17-21. Find more information and register online. Contact Elizabeth Ghilardi with questions.

Skidmore Weekly Bulletin submission procedure and schedule

Help reduce bulk emails by posting your announcement in Skidmore Weekly Bulletin, which is distributed to all students and employees. Submit announcements and eventslectures, panels, and other academic events; and faculty-staff achievements by completing the appropriate online form. The deadline for all submissions is noon on Monday.
